Primary care physicians are often the first to identify, diagnose and initate treatment for mental health conditions. In fact, the two most common diagnoses in family medicine clinics are anxiety and depression. Anxiety disorders affect approximately 3% of patients in primary care practices and often exist alongside other behavioral and/or medical conditions. The following tools can assist in identification of possible anxiety disorders in your patients.
