Lucet Strengthens Leadership Team with Appointment of Brian Doheny as Chief Operating Officer

Former Humana Exec Joins Seasoned Team of Healthcare Leaders at Company Redefining Behavioral Health Access and Outcomes

Overland Park, Kansas – June 5, 2023Lucet, a leading provider of behavioral health solutions and services to commercial health plans, government agencies, and other sponsors of care, today announced the appointment of Brian Doheny as the company’s Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Doheny joins Lucet with nearly three decades of healthcare experience accrued across a variety of settings, including senior leadership positions at Humana, UofL Health, CommonSpirit Health, and Ascension. In his new role, Mr. Doheny will focus on building out Lucet’s network of high-quality therapists, behavioral health specialists, and treatment facilities through partnerships and strategic ventures. Additionally, he will provide administrative oversight, while directing Lucet’s member engagement and clinical operations functions.

“I have spent the majority of my career working closely with administrators, clinicians and care teams, as well as patients and community organizations to reduce or remove friction in the delivery system,” observed Doheny. “At a time when consensus can be difficult to achieve, there’s general agreement that the industry can do a better job meeting the needs of those with mental or behavioral health issues. Through its relationships with large national health plans, its technology platform and proprietary Behavioral Health Index (BHI®), and frontline team of experts, Lucet is well-positioned to effect change at-scale.”

Before stepping into his current role, Mr. Doheny distinguished himself at Humana where he served as the Vice President of Medicare Trend and Innovation and shepherded the national expansion of value-based programs. Earlier in his tenure, he led Humana Pharmacy’s retail pharmacy business. Mr. Doheny has also maintained operational oversight and responsibility inside of leading national and regional health systems. He spent three years as the Chief Operating Officer of Jewish Hospital, a 442-bed tertiary care medical center, and four years as the President and CEO of UofL Health-Medical Center South.

“We are thrilled that Brian has chosen to join the Lucet team,” said President and CEO Shana Hoffman. “He brings with him a wealth of knowledge, including that gleaned through strategic transformation initiatives centered on value-based care delivery. Brian will be an invaluable resource and guide as we continue working collaboratively with our clients and partners to correct the systemic imbalance between provider supply and patient demand.”

Mr. Doheny holds an MHA from Washington University in St. Louis, a BA in government and politics from the University of Maryland and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
